What the information and tools on this website are, what they are not, and where your own responsibility begins.

1. General information only

Everything published on genderrevealideas.us is general information intended to help you plan a celebration. It is not professional advice of any kind, including safety, legal, medical or financial advice, and it is not tailored to your particular event, venue, guests or circumstances.

We make a genuine effort to keep the site accurate, but content can become outdated and errors are possible. If something here looks wrong, please tell us through the contact page.

2. Tool suggestions are informational

The Gender Reveal Ideas Generator produces suggestions by matching your answers against a fixed library of ideas. It does not know your venue, your ceiling height, your weather, your local rules or the ages of your guests.

Treat every result as a starting point to be checked, not an instruction to follow. If a suggested reveal does not suit your space or feels unsafe in your conditions, choose something else. A cake or a balloon box works in almost any setting.

3. Budget estimates are approximate

Any figure or range shown on this site is a rough guide only. It is not a quotation, an offer, or a prediction of what you will actually pay.

Real costs vary considerably depending on:

  • Where you live, since the same item can cost several times more in one region than another
  • Which supplier you use, and how far in advance you book
  • Your guest count, which drives food and drink costs more than anything else
  • Season and demand, particularly for venues, cakes and florists
  • Currency, taxes, delivery charges and service fees

Always obtain your own quotes from local suppliers before committing to a budget.

4. Venue rules and local regulations

It is your responsibility to check what is permitted where your event takes place. Many venues restrict or prohibit confetti, powder, helium, open flame, ceiling fixings and amplified sound, and public parks often require permission for larger gatherings.

Local regulations also vary and change, particularly seasonal restrictions on outdoor activity in fire-risk areas. Ask your venue in writing, and check the rules that apply in your area, before finalising any reveal method.

5. You are responsible for safe setup

You are solely responsible for the safe planning, setup and running of your event, including supervising children, positioning guests at a safe distance, securing decorations, and following the instructions supplied with every product you buy or hire.

If you are unsure whether something can be done safely, do not do it. There is always a simpler reveal that produces a better photograph anyway.

6. Safety: party and reveal materials

Never used or recommended on this site

Gender reveals have caused wildfires, serious injuries and deaths. Every one of those incidents involved something that was never necessary. You will not find any of the following suggested anywhere on this website, and we strongly advise against them:

  • Firearms of any kind, including shooting at a powder-filled target
  • Explosives, tannerite or any improvised detonation
  • Fireworks, flares or aerial pyrotechnics handled by non-professionals
  • Homemade chemical reactions, dry ice sealed in a container, or pressurised devices
  • Vehicle stunts, burnouts, low-flying aircraft or crop dusters
  • Live animals released, dyed or otherwise used as a reveal

Balloons, powder, confetti, cake, fabric and lighting cover every effect worth having.

Balloons

  • Never release balloons into the sky. They return as litter and are a hazard to wildlife and livestock.
  • Uninflated balloons and burst fragments are a choking hazard. Keep them away from young children and clear fragments immediately.
  • Never inhale helium. It displaces oxygen and can cause loss of consciousness.
  • Keep balloons away from heaters, candles and open flame.

Confetti and powder

  • Choose biodegradable confetti and clean the area thoroughly afterwards.
  • Point cannons up and away from faces, never at a person, and check wind direction before firing.
  • Fine powders can irritate eyes and airways. Keep them away from young children and anyone with a respiratory condition.
  • Use only powder sold for this purpose. Do not substitute flour, cornstarch or craft pigment.

Smoke effects and lighting

  • Smoke devices are unsuitable for dry conditions, grassland or wooded areas, and are restricted or banned in many regions.
  • Never use a smoke device indoors, in an enclosed space, or near anyone with a respiratory condition.
  • For indoor colour effects, use LED or colour-changing bulbs instead. Same look, none of the risk.
  • Tape down cables and keep extension leads clear of drinks and walkways.

General

  • Assign one adult to supervise children during the reveal, particularly with pinatas, darts or anything swung.
  • Label food containing common allergens, and ask about allergies in advance.
  • Secure outdoor decorations against wind and check them again on the morning.
  • Keep a basic first aid kit accessible and know where water and the nearest exit are.
